STOP THIS CRUELTY!!!!!!!!!!
Shakespeare once said- "Hell is empty, the devil roams this earth"
It is true, the devils live among us, harming not just humans, but innocent creatures who have never done any harm to anyone or anything!!! They were brutally killed, beaten. Not just for money, but for fun. not just at the slaughterhouses, but on the streets.
It fills me with sorrow when i see, hear or read a news about how animals are being killed by people for fun. It is not human to call this fun. It is not human to stay quiet about this either, we need to raise our voice, against such criminals, against people who simply do not care about an innocent life, against the current laws against animal cruelty in India.
I could not help myself but search it up online, what are the punishments given to such heartless people. I was baffled by the answer. The current punishment given to some one who kills, beats, kicks, or harm the animals in any physical or mental manner, is to give a fine of Rs 10 to Rs 50.
Is that it? Is Rs 50 the value of a life? an innocent life.
This needs to change, this has to change. But how? Before we look into that, we need to know what animal cruelty is. don't they say,"Know your enemy before you fight it."
1. Where did they go? On your plate.
The highest cause of animal cruelty is the meat industry. In the farms, cows, pigs, chicken and many such poultry animals are raised and dragged to their deaths. I have seen interviews of the people who work in the slaughterhouses. they say " we do not like to do this, but we have no choice. we are so poor." When asked, do the animals know what is going on? they say-" Oh yes, definitely. whenever we bring them in, they don't stop crying and screaming. They lick and cuddle with their loved ones as if saying goodbye. We observe that closely".
What are they killed for? So we can have a good dinner? Is your plate of dinner worth an innocent life? Now, you might say, " The entire world eats them, if just one person changes, that is not going to do anything". Well, change starts from one person. If done in the right way, it will change the whole world.
2. They have lives, they are not showpieces
Have you ever been to prison? A prison made for people to come watch and enjoy. Why would there be such a prison?, you would say. Who wants to see the criminals of the prison?
What if i tell you the prison has innocent animals in it, and not people. Make a picture in your mind- you are sleeping peacefully in your home with your family. A truck comes, and takes you away from your family. They put you to sleep. When you wake up, you are in a cage. People are looking at you, taking pictures. "Where is my family?'' ''Where is my home?''
How would you feel? That is how they feel too. caged, helpless.
3. Hey human, that is not called 'fun'
There have been many recent events, where some teenagers or adults killed animals brutally on the streets because they were drunk or wanted to see what happens. The animals were killed in the most painful manner, They were evil enough to upload such videos on YouTube. ' Look at the cool thing we did ', They said. They don't understand the value of a life. They never will.
Now the million dollar question, How do we stop all this? This is how-
1] Say no to meat and animal products, its yum for us but pain for them.
2] Say no to things made from ivory, leather or any other ornament made by killing animals. Your fashion costs lives.
3] Protest or file petitions to change the current laws against animal cruelty.
4] Report to the police if you see or hear about an animal killing near you.
5] Show empathy towards animals. Give them food and water. Check out my previous blog to see the right way to do it.
I hope you liked this blog, Lets fight this war against animal cruelty together and stay tuned for the next blog which will drop soon.
Thank you.
Nicely articulated piece packed with emotion .May God Bless You ! Thoroughly enjoyed reading!!
ReplyDeleteVery aptly put in words the agony of animlas.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great read. Keep at it. You've a long way to go.
ReplyDeleteI think the people who do cruelty to animals are themselves mentally disturbed. They need to looked at sympathetically as it is not in human nature to enjoy other living being's misery. People who feel like doing cruelty should approach a helpline - and they should be dealt with professionally. The real problem is psychological - not of awareness that animal cruelty is bad.
ReplyDeleteAs far as non-veg eating is concerned - most people who have meat love pets - so its just matter of emotional distancing. If they get to see these animals before they are killed - I am sure most wont eat non-veg.
